Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

18th Century Farmhouse

Sir Bourchier and Lady Caroline Wrey’s home was built in 1740 by the Wrey family who lived on a large estate locally; the family arrived in Tawstock, from St Ives in Cornwall in 1640 when the Wreys married Lady Anne Bourchier from a very old Norman family who came over in 1066. Sir Bourchier is the 15th baronet and has 2 sons and a daughter.

George runs a property company and a private shoot, while Caroline is an interior designer and presently teaches dyslexic children when not running the farm and runs the livery yard.

Evening fine dining is also now available but must be booked in advance - see menu here>

The Vicenza Room - Luxury en-suite bedroom in the Newly Converted Barn

Tawstock b and b

This room has been created within this 300 year old barn, looking south over the garden. While this garden is alive with birdsong, chickens, ducks and ducklings, it is also packed with scented roses and other perennials. The irako window, mahogany wall shelves, slate/oak basin unit, dressing table stools, suitcase wracks, headboards and curtains are amongst the items that have been custom-made for this suite by skilled, local craftsmen and women. The super king/twin beds were chosen for their ultimate comfort. The high quality linen ensures blissful sleep. The furnishings exemplify a balance between classic and contemporary pieces with inherited family antiques, passed down through generations of the Wrey family. The coral on green, printed linen, for the sumptuous curtains, was sourced from one of the top, international fabric houses, Marvic Textiles. The pelmet has a "butterfly, buttoned smock" design. The bed furnishings are created from another fabulously timeless Marvic Textiles' water-marked, stripe; its rich dyes blend perfectly with the print of the curtains.  The bathroom is modern and chic with all necessary comforts including a huge shower head and piping hot water.

This room is called "Vicenza" after a favourite town in northern Italy and from where many charming, Italian children have come, over the years,  to Hollamoor to attend our Language School.

The Muscovy Room - Luxury en-suite bedroom in the Newly Converted Barn

Pink Room, Bed and Bedroom

This room has been created within this 300 year old barn, looking south over  the garden. While this garden is  alive with birdsong, chickens, ducks and ducklings, it is also packed with scented roses and other perennials. The irako window, mahogany wall shelves, slate/oak basin unit, dressing table stools, headboards and curtains are amongst the items that have been custom-made for this suite by skilled, local craftsmen and women. The super king/twin beds were chosen for their ultimate comfort. The high quality linen ensures blissful sleep. The furnishings exemplify a balance between classic and contemporary pieces with inherited family antiques, passed down through generations of the Wrey family. The predominantly blue chintz, in the sumptuous curtains, was sourced from one of the top, international fabric houses, Marvic textiles. The pelmet has a "ribboned and buttoned smock" design. The bed furnishings are created from another fabulously timeless Marvic Textiles' stripe; its rich dyes blend perfectly with the print of the curtains.  The bathroom is modern and chic with all necessary comforts including a huge shower head and piping hot water.

This room is called "Muscoy" for two reasons: 1.) Caroline's deep love of this peaceful, friendly and beautiful of duck and 2.) the fact that, when this was an open hay loft, the muscovies loved to sit on the bare window sill and use the room as their own.

The Pink Room - Luxury en-suite bedroom in the Newly Converted Barn

Pink Room, Bed and Bedroom

This romantic and private bedroom is in a beautifully converted barn, where the heavy, plough horses used to live. It benefits from its own private front door and staircase. Its sloping eves and partial stone wall lend themselves to creating a very special atmosphere. It has a dedicated front door and staircase, surrounded by climbing roses; it has its own sitting area and en suite bathroom. Classic meets contemporary in terms of the antique furniture, paintings and damask verses Ikea pieces, contemporary paintings together with modern fabrics; a glorious result. The room looks south over a very pretty, walled-garden.
