North Devon Walks

Circular Walks in North Devon

In terms of scenery, North Devon is a spectacular county for walking.

Whether you are on the undulating, coastal paths, river valleys, woodlands or Exmoor trails, the views are breathe-taking.

You can find hidden paths, enjoy dog-friendly, country inns with open fires and sunny gardens or carry a delicious picnic to enjoy during one of your rests on some ancient wooden bench or comfortable rock.

The weather is often wonderful with perhaps a benign, south westerly wind, gently blowing from time to time.

As you amble along, you will not only come across pretty livestock such as cosy sheep and lambs, curious cattle and friendly ponies but also superb wildlife (red deer, roe deer, feral goats, seals, badgers, foxes, otters etc.) together with an enormous bird population.

You may also find a huge diversity in the carpets of wild flowers, depending which season you are walking. This can be a wonderful holiday for your dog too, provided he/she is kept well under control.

The walks are full of contrast –

“ from the airy heights of the most lofty sea cliff in England, towering above the Exmoor coast, to an idyllic fern-fringed, stream side path….”

(Circular Walks in North Devon by S. Stanbrook-Byrne & J. Clancy).

This book is highly recommendable for keen North Devon walkers. All the walks start within an easy drive from Hollamoor Farm.
